Decatur County Soccer Club offers both Spring and Fall recreational soccer programs. We encourage and depend on parents to volunteer to coach or assistant coach. Prior coaching experience and soccer knowledge is not required. Coaching resources can be found on our website as well as online from many resources. We encourage you to reach out to the board or other coaches if you have any questions.
Players must register by birth year. Please review the
Age Division chart for divisions based on birth year.
The Spring soccer season typically occurs April/May and the Fall season August/September.
Practice and game schedules will be posted once teams are assigned after the close of registration. Practice and game schedules are based on coach and field availability. Due to this the schedules are not known until just prior to the season. Field locations are subject to change based on availability. .
General Information:-Players are not allowed to wear jewelry, earrings, watches, hard barrettes, etc. when practicing or playing.
-Players are required to wear shin guards when practicing and playing.
Socks must be worn over and must completely cover the shin guards. Additional socks are not needed IF the shin guards are built into the socks.
-Soccer cleats are recommended but not required.
Cleats may not be made out of metal or have sharp points.
-Players are
required to bring water or drinks with them to games and practice. Food and gum are not allowed.
-Medical Release/Consent must be checked in registration and in the possession of the team coach before a player can practice or play.
-Practice may be held in the rain at the coach's discretion. Games will be played in the rain/snow. Practice and games are not allowed when there is lightning or thunder.
-Players in a cast or with a known medical condition (sprains, etc) must provide a written release from their
doctor to be eligible to play.
Releases from parents or guardians are not acceptable. Casts must be covered with a minimum of 3 inches of soft padding. Written medical release from the doctor must be provided to the referee prior to the start of the game. The referee makes the final decision if a player in a cast can play.
-All players will play a minimum of 1/2 of the game.
-Players are expected to bring their own soccer balls to practice.

Ball sizes by age division are: U6/8 - Size 3
U10/12 - Size 4
U14 - Size 5

U6 Parents are required to stay at practice. Players will never be forced to play a position that frightens them, but all players will be given the opportunity to play everywhere on the field.
